The India Telecentre Network (ITN) Programme
The need for one connected and integrated platform for the telecentres in India has led to the launch of the concept of India Telecentre Network (ITN) Programme. The Pragramme would be solely s aimed to fulfill the aspirations of the telecentre operators, the support agencies and other members in the telecentre stakeholders’ fraternity. The Programme is further intended to ensure that key advantages in the successful deployment and functioning of the centres, in close coordination with all the critical stakeholders – public, private, civil society and independent agencies, are adequately and appropriately leveraged. As such, the telecentre operator’s would-be the prime focus group and beneficiary.
Nature
The ITN Programme, as an organization would have the following characteristics:

A voluntary and non-political organization for all telecentre operators / owners and other stakeholders viz, Government, private, civil society entities as members.

A membership-driven organization with an identified Charter for all the members.
Roles & Mandate
The ITN programme is aimed to play a key facilitating role in the following:

Development of India Telecentre Network Framework;

Promotion, outreach and publications of telecentre activities in appropriate forms in suitable media;

Networking to enable stakeholders to reach the last mile through the telecentres;

Capacity building & training for the Telecentre.org Academy;

Periodic policy and functional advocacy on the role of telecentres in e-Governance program of the Government;

Undertaking research & analysis on telecentre-related issues;
Backend integration and alignment of Indian telecentre activities with the global telecentre movement
Objective
The objective of ITN Programme is to establish an integrated networking platform for the telecentre stakeholders, which will work towards a sustainable telecentre movement in India. With both policy and non-policy activities focus, there will be specific focus on Capacity Building to ensure the sustainability of telecentres.
Key outcomes
The key outcomes of the democratic umbrella of networking platform, which the ITN Programme intends to create, would have following key outcomes:

Sharing of ideas, experiences, issues and suggestions

Facilitation of deliberation and consulting process among the government, corporate civil society and independent agencies – in India.

Advocacy on telecentre related issues, especially in policy and non-policy areas

Capacity and skill building for the telecentre owners / operators to make the centres sustainable

Research and analysis on subjects concerning the telecentre movement in India
